Christian Ortiz has been identified by police as the person who was found suffering from a fatal gunshot wound near Seek Lane Park earlier this week, investigators announced on Thursday.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, officers were called at around 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 1 to the area of Barron Street Drive and Domer Avenue, where there were reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found Ortiz in the playground area of the park suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving efforts by officers and responding paramedics.
Ortiz was described as "a joy in (his family's eyes), who in his 18 years of life, blessed (them) with his friendship, affection and love."
The investigation into his death remains ongoing. No information about his possible suspect or motive for the shooting has been released by the police.
